A candidate should not choose the Data Commissioner route because it sounds like a senior technology job if their experience does not include regulatory, privacy, legal, investigative, or data-governance responsibility. Likewise, the NG-CDF Board role is not a routine project officer appointment: the official functions point to oversight, public-resource stewardship, project review, complaints, and governance. The application should explain how the candidate’s professional field supports board decisions and accountability.
The two closing dates also require practical discipline. An applicant interested in both routes should prepare separate checklists, confirm the earlier NG-CDF deadline first, and avoid assuming that a submission for one vacancy automatically covers the other. The PSC advert identifies vacancy numbers, and those references should appear consistently in the candidate’s notes and any correspondence. Save confirmation of the online submission, but do not send duplicate applications unless the official instructions require it.
